While Front Mission Evolved is set in the same universe, this game barely takes advantage of the series’ mythology. The war sparked by an orbital elevator attack on USN soil is just a cursory pretext to blow stuff up.
In this interview, David Verfaillie, Design Director at Double Helix, discusses transitioning the Front Mission series to Front Mission Evolved and how the studio collaborated with Square Enix.
Square Enix put together a super trailer of sorts for Front Mission Evolved by linking over a dozen movies with a fancy Flash menu.
Shotguns, gatling guns, and anti-missile features are some of the Wanzer parts in Front Mission Evolved.
Plus a tiny bit of drama too. Front Mission Evolved has a single player campaign mode where a female pilot will, at some point, give you a ride after you throw away your last chance to save yourself.
Here’s a hint: it’s way shorter than the average Front Mission game.
Square Enix set September 14 as the date for Front Mission Evolved and it’s coming at you in stereoscopic 3D.
Sheer excitement was a key ingredient.

Square Enix says Front Mission Evolved is a spring 2010 game. Xbox.com says something else.
You don’t have time to test actions, check damage, cancel, and test again in Front Mission Evolved. Double Helix’s game is all Mechwarrior and no strategy RPG.
