EXTRA 2008: Yuzo Koshiro on Etrian Odyssey

By Jeriaska . October 19, 2008 . 5:29pm

When looking at the magnitude of music composed by Yuzo Koshiro for the Etrian Odyssey series of role-playing games, its breadth amounts to a small kingdom of sounds. The original soundtracks for the first two titles make up five discs. In addition, a drama CD, two Super Arrange records, a piano collection and [...]

EXTRA 2008: Jeff Curry on The Outer Rim

By Jeriaska . October 19, 2008 . 4:39pm

In May of this year, the Tokyo-based band The Outer Rim published their self-titled debut album. Composed primarily by bassist Jeff Curry, the musician imagined the spoken drama that bookends the music tracks, which are performed by professional videogame voice actors, as a dark and brooding outer space tale reminiscent of James Cameron’s [...]

Atlus gets into the character goods biz with plushies and Persona 4 towels

By Spencer . August 7, 2008 . 1:42pm

Nippon Ichi is huge into selling character goods especially with the Disgaea series. Stuffed prinnies, plastic prinnies, and prinny hats can be found at any anime conference. Etrian Odyssey: hardcore and old school role playing comes to the DS

By Kurt Kalata . January 29, 2007 . 5:09pm

Sekaiju no Keikyuu – coming to the states later this year as “Etrian Odyssey” – is not an innovative title, but it is pretty far removed from the current RPG climate. After a short introductory text scroll, the first thing you do is enter the adventurer’s guild and create your characters. These characters never talk [...]
