Square Enix announced they will release a PC version of Final Fantasy VIII, but it won’t be the same game released over a decade ago. Final Fantasy VIII for PC will have high resolution graphics, Famitsu reports.

Last year, Square Enix closed the Character Goods shop where Sephiroth was sleeping and opened a cafe in Shinjuku called Artnia which will have a Final Fantasy VIII concept art exhibit.

Jpop artist Crystal Kay will sing Eyes on Me for the Final Fantasy Orchestra Album instead of Faye Wong who was the original singer of the Final Fantasy VIII theme song.

Interestingly, Square Enix had tinkered with them as recently as 2010, to try and make them compatible with modern operating systems, but to no avail.

As a consolation prize of sorts, Square Enix released Final Fantasy VIII as a PSone Classic.

Square Enix compressed Final Fantasy VIII into a 1815MB file that works on your PlayStation 3 and PSP.
