Fighter’s History to make a return

By Spencer . March 22, 2007 . 6:44am

When Street Fighter II was the hottest thing in the world, the floodgates opened for 2D fighting clones. Most stood out on their own with an original cast of characters and gameplay tweaks except for Fighter’s History. Data East’s fighting game was a little too similar to Street Fighter II so similar that Capcom sued […]

Three new King of Fighters games in 2007

By Spencer . December 25, 2006 . 12:43pm

Usually there’s a new King of Fighters game released every year, but in 2007 we’re going to see at least three. King of Fighters XII is supposedly going to conclude the “Tales of Ash” arc and is going to be released on the Taito Type X2 arcade system instead of the Atomiswave arcade boards the […]

By Spencer . October 9, 2006 . 8:25am

Next week 2K Games brings Family Guy to retail shelves and these two clips show that the game has the same wacky humor as the cartoon show. While there are no gameplay videos yet, Destructoid has hands on impressions of the game. There is another bonus about the release of Family Guy, that has little […]

The King of Fighters XI

By Kurt . July 17, 2006 . 11:19am

The King of Fighters series is twelve years old. In video game years, that’s a long time. When it was introduced, the arcades were still lively, with a health market for 2D fighters. And that’s two console generations – we’ve seen the decline of 2D to make way for 3D, and the rise of the […]

King of Fighters: Maximum Impact 2

By Kurt . May 31, 2006 . 2:09pm

When it was released in 2005, King of Fighters Maximum Impact was something of a surprise. It was SNK’s first 3D fighting game since their obscure Hyper Neo Geo 64 titles, and nobody really expected anything good. In spite of all of the odds against it, Maximum Impact felt like an excellent example of a […]

Overlooked at E3

By Kurt . May 19, 2006 . 11:38am

As much as E3 is hyped as being the biggest video game convention on the planet, it’s really a lousy place to play games. The flashing lights are distracting, the loud noises often make it impossible to hear any sound, and certain people don’t understand that you don’t sit and play a game for twenty […]

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is a SNK fan’s dream come true

By Kurt . January 27, 2006 . 2:50pm

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is, for all intents and purposes, the sequel to SvC Chaos. It ditches all of the Capcom characters, but greatly expands the character selection and fine tunes the fighting, resulting in a far more complete experience. Neo Geo Battle Coliseum expands the concept behind King of Fighters and grabs nearly all […]

King of Fighters enters the third dimension.

By Spencer . August 17, 2004 . 5:17am

Even after all of these years of sprite based battling there hasn’t ever been a 3D King of Fighters game. With so many other 3D fighters out there such as Virtual Fighter 4 Evolution, Soul Calibur 2, Tekken 4 and even Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance can a 3D King of Fighters stand out on its […]
