Last year, Microsoft announced Joy Ride as a cash-op car game with avatar support for Xbox Live Arcade. Last week, Joy Ride re-emerged as a retail, Kinect powered, kart racing game.

We’ve seen the $149.99 price for the Kinect Sensor everywhere, even on Microsoft’s own online store. That price no matter where you see it, is just a placeholder, according to a Microsoft employee.

The camera on Microsoft’s Kinect does more than track movement.

Microsoft Kinect games have special boxes. Instead of the usual green or Platinum Hits silver case, Kinect games come in purple packaging.

While Microsoft haven’t publicly revealed a price for Kinect, a Gamestop listing prices a standalone purchase of the device at $149.

The re-modeled Xbox 360 is shipping today, while the Kinect launches later this year.
