Capcom’s Monster Hunter 3 release date announcement came with a new video. Not a “lifestyle clip” with people sitting on a couch pretending to play a game. This trailer is just gameplay with a slash axe teaser at the end.

Monster Hunter 3 comes out in Japan on August 1 in three flavors. Pick the limited edition and you get the highly anticipated game in a treasure box.

Until now Capcom was coy to confirm it, but Monster Hunter Tri is without a doubt getting an overseas release. Nine Wii games are planned to ship within this fiscal year, including Monster Hunter 3.

usual Monster Hunter boxart shows off absolutely diabolical Dungeons & Dragons style beasts that you’d happily stab through the heart, but as you can see from the videos above, this is clearly not what the majority of the experience revolves around.

What do you know, even more rumours! Capcom USA’s press page lists Monster Hunter 3 (tri~) for Wii under the TBA (to be announced) section, along with Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, which was already confirmed at Captivate 09.

Monster Hunter Tri introduces a brand new weapon, the slash axe. The two-handed axe lets players cleave Jagiis with its giant blade.   Famitsu explains the theme of the weapon is it “transforms.” When not in attack mode the massive weapon neatly folds up and can be strapped to your back.  

At a Monster Hunter event Capcom announced when the highly anticipated Monster Hunter Tri would be in stores. Just like Dragon Quest IX it’s slated for a summer release in Japan. Wow!
