When it came down to sales Monster Hunter Freedom Unite didn’t exceed Capcom’s expectations.
Capcom just announced MonHun Nikki: Poka Poka Airu Mura on the Monster Hunter portal page with this teaser image. And that page may have accidental revealed something.
Capcom is making a new Monster Hunter game for PSP, but it’s not a sequel Monster Hunter Portable 2G.
Here’s something of interest to note: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has scored significantly higher (81) on Metacritic than Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (72). Judging by the nature of the reviews, there was also more interest in Unite in general.
Since Monster Hunter Tri came out in Japan over the weekend Capcom is starting to discuss the Western release. We get to hunt underwater monsters in “early 2010.”
It’s July 27, which means we’re less than a week away from the launch of Monster Hunter 3 in Japan.
With only days until it comes out Capcom confirmed Monster Hunter 3’s online mode will be pay to play. To access the online mode you need a hunting ticket, which are sold in tiers just like Monster Hunter G.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is such a smashing success Capcom and Sony are still promoting it. Two new PSP-3000 bundles featuring carnival colors and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite are scheduled for July 23.
Monster Hunter Freedom is a social experience in Asia. Gamers congregate in fast food joints like McDonalds and huddle around multiplayer Monster Hunter games. Capcom’s Europe division hopes to spark a similar phenomenon with their Monster Hunter Gathering Hall.
