Also on the list were Darksiders II and New Super Mario Bros. 2, bringing some nice variety to the top-ten. [Updated with some sales figures.]
Total physical sales across the games industry dropped to 20% year-over-year in July, the NPD Group reports.
June was a rather interesting month for sales in general.
This represents the first time since July 2010 that a PC-only game has been the top-selling title for any given month.
Software sales fell by 42%, while hardware sales dropped by 32%, owing to fewer high-profile releases.
Nintendo also provided 3DS sales for March, and updated numbers for the two Mario titles.
Additionally, the NPD Group report that Kid Icarus: Uprising did rather well, too.
A lack of high-profile game launches led to a 38% decline in retail software sales compared to January 2011.
For starters, total videogame sales in December were down 21% compared to 2010.
North America saw lots of sequels released in November and they all sold better than their predecessors.
Batman: Arkham City sold over 1.5 million copies on consoles last month.
Ocarina of Time 3D has sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S. as of September.
Madden NFL 12 took the top sales spot in the U.S. with over 2 million in sales in September, followed by Gears of War 3.
