Sega’s Phantasy Star Portable 2 collaborations continue, but these aren’t as irreverent as their Pizza Hut partnership.
Pizza Hut is going intergalactic by opening a virtual restaurant in the Gurhal Galaxy in Phantasy Star Portable 2.
Phantasy Star Portable 2 is going where no other portable “MonHun” game has gone, the Internet. You can play Phantasy Star Portable 2 in ad-hoc mode and online via infrastructure mode.
Toro and Kuro get around. Sony’s cat mascots made a cameo appearance in Disgaea 3. Now they’re scheduled to appear in Phantasy Star Portable 2.
The PSP has plenty of network RPGs and Monster Hunter clones, few of which support online play. Sure, you can use a PlayStation 3 and connect with distant gamers via Ad-hoc Party, but wouldn’t it be nice to play online without a PS3?
Sega was teasing a new RPG to be unveiled on Friday and Famitsu scans, as usual, preempted the official announcement. Sorry, if you were hoping for another Shining Force game.
The budget friendly re-release of Phantasy Star Portable is bundled with a UMD containing three episodes and supposedly a trailer for Phantasy Star Portable 2.
The Sega Ages: Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box included a neat feature. You can choose to play the Japanese or “International” version of Gunstar Heroes. With a little trickery you can do the same thing with the Xbox Live Arcade version too.
Gunstar Heroes won’t be the only Genesis classic coming to Xbox Live Arcade this summer. Comix Zone, Phantasy Star II, and Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 are all slated for the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, PlayStation 3 owners only get Gunstar Heroes.
