Quantum Theory tried to offer something new with its living tower, and lead characters – a massive brute and his lithe sidekick. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out exactly as Tecmo Koei planned.

Tecmo’s first attempt at a third person shooter is scheduled for March 25. Just like the rest of the world, Quantum Theory will be a multiplatform Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game in Japan too.

Quantum Theory isn’t a PlayStation 3 exclusive anymore. Tecmo Koei announced their third person shooter is also coming to the Xbox 360.

Quantum may feel familiar to the West, but the PS3 game marks a new direction for Tecmo. Quantum is their first third person shooting game. I spoke with Makoto Shibata, Director, about Quantum to see what Team Tachyon and Tecmo can add to the genre.

Ever since Tecmo unveiled their third person shooter, Quantum, the media has compared it to Gears of War. When Makoto Shibata, Director, showed the game to me I asked how he felt about the constant comparisons.

At Tokyo Game Show Tecmo introduced Quantum Theory, a Gears of War style FPS, and Undead Knights, a game that has players convert enemies into allied zombies. Tecmo USA has plans to publish both games.
