Compared to Nintendo’s other first party developed platfomers for Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns is probably the most challenging. And that’s what Retro Studios wanted.

Donkey Kong doesn’t take the news about his lost banana stash lightly. In the opening stage, players make Donkey Kong punch a Tiki out of his home by shaking the Wii remote and nunchuck. After Donkey Kong proudly beats his chest the game begins.

In Japan, Nintendo are simply calling the game “Donkey Kong Returns.”

Nintendo sent out a new trailer along with a fresh batch of screenshots for Retro’s re-imagining of the SNES title.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is a blast from the past. The demo level I played at E3 reminded me of the Super Nintendo games.

From Metroid to…Donkey Kong?

Developers go to great lengths to make good on their promises of “immersion” and “realism,” both terms usually used as an indicator of how effectively the art and narrative invoke a sense of escapism in the player.

I thought it’d fun to try a feature entirely based around the “food for thought” concept about Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and about Other M, which I dearly hope will make me cry tears of happiness.

Metroid Prime is about developing and building an atmosphere that evolves continually throughout the game. In contrast, Corruption is a very different game. It’s more about impressing you at every turn than it is about bringing classic Metroid elements into 3D.

  After announcing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is coming out on August 20, 2007 Nintendo released a new set of screenshots for Samus battle against Dark Samus. Besides having motion controlled aiming Metroid Prime 3’s most innovative feature is you “grab” objects in the game and interact with them the Wii remote / nunchuck.
