You didn’t really think SEGA would let 9/9/09 go by without a big nostalgic announcement, did you?

Cooperating to make the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is one thing, both companies have an invested interest in the series. Now, Nintendo is taking their relationship with Sega a step further by localizing and publishing Sonic Rush Adventure in Korea.

Sonic turned 18 years old yesterday. Many websites said “Happy Birthday” to the blue blur while some vocal fans pleaded with Sega to “stop with the kiddie games!” OK, Sonic doesn’t have the love he used to, but Sonic still has a lot of respect in Taiwan.

As a pre-E3 surprise Sega announced a mascot racing game. Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing includes Sonic and other cutesy characters like AiAi from Super Monkey Ball and Amigo from Samba de Amigo.

Gunstar Heroes won’t be the only Genesis classic coming to Xbox Live Arcade this summer. Comix Zone, Phantasy Star II, and Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 are all slated for the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, PlayStation 3 owners only get Gunstar Heroes.
