Everyday Shooter developer Queasy Games has a clever musical platformer where you add beats to the background music as you jump through a level. Sound Shapes has tracks from Jim Guthrie (Swords & Sworcery), Deadmau5 and I Am Robot and Proud.

PSN Play, Sony’s annual program showcasing PlayStation summer download games and deals kicks off on July 24th.

Sound Shapes is elegant in its simplicity, hearkening back to Super Mario Bros. with its two button control scheme: X jumps and Square (or R) runs.

On top of original music (and player made songs!), Sound Shapes will have tunes from Deadmau5, Jim Guthrie, and Superbrothers. Sound Shapes is slated for release as a PlayStation Network download on August 7.

Sound Shapes turns side-scrolling stages with simple graphics (think basic shapes and gray backgrounds) into songs and vice-versa.
