Since Square Enix already reserved the rights for The World Ends With You in the West back in 2007 and Subarashiki Kono Sekai in 2006, we’re curious why Square Enix Japan filed this trademark two months ago.
We ask this question because the publisher filed two trademarks in Japan with “underworld” in them. The first, roughly translated, is Door of the Underworld and the Path of Nayuta and the other is Root of the Underworld.
The publisher filed a trademark Guardian Cross in Europe and snapped up the domain name: guardiancross.net.
