Sting is known for making games with intricate systems like Generation of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection and Riviera: The Promised Land. While it wasn’t as well publicized, Sting also made a smartphone RPG with social game maker GREE called Dragon’s Labyrinth.

Idea Factory and Sting are working together to create a new brand called Super Sting, which will utilize their individual strengths to create new games.

Super Sting already has their first title prepared and Famitsu says it is a fantasy simulation RPG.

While Sting is known for developing games with complicated mechanics, Gungnir is designed to be user friendly for strategy RPG fans who feel they aren’t good at the genre.

While Sting made unique gameplay systems for Knights in the Nightmare and Hexyz Force, Gungnir, as Famitsu explains, is a traditional strategy RPG.

The PSP game stars Julio Ragwell who came into possession of Gungnir, the titular lance.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm, Demon’s Souls, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow are on sale too.

I kind of want to feel bad for not liking Knights in the Nightmare. It’s a game that takes a risk, blends two polar opposite genres together and actually makes the resulting chaos work.

Sting’s PSP port of Knights in the Nightmare will be ready just in time for Halloween. Atlus set October 19 as the game’s release date in North America.

Atlus, it seems, has plans to release most of their localized PSP games in Oceania. We just dug up a rating for Knights in the Nightmare by the Classification Board.

On the PSP, Knights in the Nightmare has three story lines to follow. Two are from the Nintendo DS version. The best thing one could say about Hexyz Force is that it understands its target audience.

Being a prequel, Blaze Union: Story to Reach the Future and Yggdra Union are set in the same universe. That means an opportunity for cameos and Sting jumped on that.
