Namco Bandai confirmed today that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will see a Wii U release with Wii U-exclusive content.
Best Buy and Amazon pre-orders only get Angel and Michelle as bonus fighters.
This collector’s edition includes the game, a soundtrack CD, remix soundtrack CD, behind the scenes video with comments from series director Katsuhiro Harada packed inside a metal case.
All four characters will be available in a free downloadable content pack. Yes, free, but it isn’t clear if Namco Bandai will first offer these extra fighters as a pre-order incentive.
Namco Bandai recently held an event outlining their game releases for the near future. Here’s the most interesting stuff we encountered on the show floor.
Katsuhiro Harada also talks about swimsuits, introduces the game’s tutorial-esque Fight Lab mode, and says Tekken X Street Fighter is “progressing.”
For the first match, my opponent and I chose Tag mode, which meant we would use two characters. It was Roger Jr. and Panda (me!) against Jaycee and Lili.

Tekken series producer, Katsuhiro Harada, promises new characters for the console version of the game.
Starting on April 2, Bandai Namco Studio will handle franchises such as Soulcalibur, Tekken, Taiko no Tatsujin, Mobile Suit Gundam: Bonds on the Battlefield, and Tales series.
The console version will have new unspecified features that aren’t in the arcade version currently playable in Japan.
All of that fighting was to tell Tekken fans one thing Tekken Tag Tournament 2 won’t come to consoles until holiday 2012.
“The easiest for us is when you have a martial arts style that we want to implement. Once that’s decided then we would look at the clothing that suits the traditional style and we would have a base for the character,” said Katsuhiro Harada.
