Tecmo Koei America have shared an extended version of the talk between Keiji Inafune and Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi on YAIBA: Ninja Gaiden Z.

“We wanted some place we weren’t familiar with and we decided on Ukraine,” says Keiji Inafune.

“We couldn’t be happier to develop YAIBA: Ninja Gaiden Z on Unreal Engine 3,” says Keiji Inafune, who is involved with the project.

It appears Yaiba: Team Ninja Z, a Ninja Gaiden spinoff with zombies, will be for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

“Yaiba takes place in the Ninja Gaiden world, but it’s its own separate thing. We are not planning on just bringing the Ninja Gaiden system and putting a different coat of paint on it and calling it Yaiba,” said Yosuke Hayashi.

Job listings on developer Spark Unlimited’s website indicate that they may be using Unreal Engine 3 for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.

“We feel we can bring the authentic ninja-ness, and by teaming with Spark Unlimited, they can bring the authentic zombie-ness,” says Team Ninja leader, Yosuke Hayashi.

Dead Rising 2 co-producer, Mega Man: Star Force illustrator and the producer of Legendary are also on the development team.

“Just as much as I love zombies, I like samurai and ninjas. My dream was to always make a ninja game so this collaboration that I’m announcing today is almost a dream come true,” Inafune said.

“I am confident you will enjoy this new concept consisting of zombies with action, ninjas and mechs,” says Inafune about YAIBA. Watch a trailer for it inside.

Famitsu announced a new game from Inafune-san called Yaiba. Early magazine leaks say it’s a “new zombie game” for an unannounced platform(s).

Capcom has another manga collaboration for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. This one brings the shonen series Yaiba intot he game. Players can equip the Supreme King sword, which is a type of long sword.
