Persona 4: Golden released on the PlayStation Vita in Japan last week, marking the system’s first major high-profile game since its launch in December 2011. Golden took the #1 spot on the software sales chart and sold over 137,000 copies, but unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to provide much of a boost to PlayStation Vita sales.

While Vita hardware sales increased greatly from weeks prior where they were hovering around the 10k level, Persona 4: Golden’s release merely drove them up to 35,000 for the week. In the larger scheme of things, that isn’t much of a difference at all, especially considering that the boost won’t last long (although, the upcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Crystal White Vita should help).

Meanwhile, consistent sales of Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D lend credence to the theory that the game was in short supply for the first two weeks after its release, and is continuing to sell as more and more people are able to find it in stores. Terry’s Wonderland sold another 66,000 copies for the week, bringing total sales close to 663,000 copies.

The top-20 software sales chart for the week is as follows:
