Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will have monsters that go into its Feral Wyvern Virus mode which greatly increases their capacities. However, there will also be some monsters that go beyond that, in what’s called the “Extreme Condition”. (Thanks, Game Labo)
To get you up to speed, the origins of the Feral Wyvern Virus are said to have begun with a Tigrex, which was the first monster to be infected. Monsters that go into this mode gain red eyes to go with a swirling purple aura. They also gain strength, speed, and new moves.
In 4 Ultimate, the “Extreme Condition” occurs when a monster overcomes their Feral Wyvern Virus, and gain incredible powers. Basically, the Feral Wyvern Virus was like a Super Saiyan mode to monsters, and the Extreme Condition is the equivalent of Super Saiyan 2.
What happens when a monster goes into Extreme Condition? Their body gets tougher, attack sharply increases, and they also get new motions, to top it off.
The monsters that can go Extreme Condition are Tigrex, Deviljho, Zinogre, Seregios, and Rajang, which is quite fitting, considering his rage mode we’re already familiar with.
To give you a good idea of how serious the Extreme Condition is, one player put together a little clip showcasing a G-Rank 3 Star Zinogre going into its new power-up form. As you can see, this Hunter with 566 defense does a good job dodging its attacks, but takes massive damage from one hit at the 1:20 mark.
While it does sound pretty overpowered, there’s a way for Hunters to fight against it—using the Anti-wyvern Stone. While using this object, it can temporarily cancel out a monster’s Extreme Condition.
The Anti-wyvern Stone can first be acquired through the 9-star Village Quest, and it can also be set with either an attack or defense up. Once you reach G-Rank, you’ll get to further level up the Anti-wyvern Stone, and have more effects to go with it, and slots to add them into.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is currently available in Japan and will release in the West sometime in early 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
