PlayStation Mobile was a bridge between Sony’s Android devices and the PlayStation Vita library. The service started in October 2012 and allowed indie developers to create games that worked on both platforms, but unfortunately PlayStation Mobile games were shoved into a little corner making those titles hard to find.
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced plans to shutter PlayStation Mobile. This will come in two waves starting with the PlayStation Mobile store closing on July 15. Users will still be able to re-download games on their devices until September 10. Once a device has been authenticated you may re-download PlayStation Mobile games to that system. You can authenticate your system by going to Settings –> PSN –> System Activation –> PlayStation Mobile –> Activate.
After September 10, you will no longer be able to access PlayStation Mobile content on any devices that have not been authenticated. PlayStation Mobile games can be used on up to three devices.
There are some gems in the PlayStation Mobile library like a Vita compatible port of Square Enix’s smartphone RPG Chaos Rings, Adventure Bar Labyrinth, Ambition of the Slimes, Musync, an English version of Fragment’s Note, and the quirky puzzle game Gunhouse.
