Sekai Project has launched a Kickstarter for Rosemary House’s Witch boy Magical piece, a Boy’s Love visual novel about men who transform into magical girls to fight alien invaders. Originally released as a mobile game in Japan, the Kickstarter will raise the funds to translate and port the game to Windows PCs.
Witch boy Magical piece is about fighting monsters, exploring gender identity, and perhaps finding love. The main character, Sakurai Hinata, and his five allies/love interests Shiharu, Akira, Yuki, Isana, and Itsuki, use magical power from Koutetsu Ouban to fight, which actually transforms them into women when they go into battle.
The stronger the bond between characters, the greater the Battery and Synergy Effect, which results in stronger magical attacks. Such bonds, formed by making choices, can result in Great Victories, Victories, or Defeats in battle. However, Defeats do result in Game Overs.
Sekai Project hopes to raise $57,000 on Kickstarter by October 18 to translate and release Witch boy Magical piece. It also has launched a Steam Greenlight page. At the moment, an Early Bird option allows people to pledge $10 to guarantee a copy of the game in hopefully December 2016, but only 250 are available. After those run out, $15 will be the minimum amount required to acquire a copy. Additional pledge bonuses at higher levels include postcards, a desktop calendar, tote bag, and shirt. To get all extras, $99 or more must be pledged.
