Earlier today, the Nintendo Badge Arcade was announced for Europe, and now the North American branch is also open. People can visit the eShop on their Nintendo 3DS to download the free distribution center to start buying and earning chances to acquire badges to decorate their Home screens.

The Nintendo Badge Arcade is filled with grabbing machines. Each one features badges based on certain series or properties. At the moment, Super Mario, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and pixelated system badges are available.

To celebrate the launch, every user gets five free plays in a preliminary Super Mario machine to learn the basics. Each day, everyone can play the free machine once to attempt to earn additional free plays. You get one play for every 10 badges grabbed in the free machine or can also randomly grab a badge that gives one or three free plays.

There is also an exclusive, promotional theme center. If someone purchases a certain number of plays by a specific date, they’ll receive a special Home theme. The current theme is one based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds that is earned after spending $2 on machines.

For those who may be curious, it is absolutely possible to accrue a more than adequate collection of badges through free plays. I’ve acquired over 300 badges since the Japanese version of the Nintendo Badge Arcade opened and spent less than $5 on the app.
