Pokémon Sun and Moon’s Pokémon Global Link has launched. People with either copy of the Nintendo 3DS game will be able to participate in Global Missions and Rating Battles immediately, with the opportunity to create Friendly Competitions and offer up a Rental Team arriving in January 2017. People can use their Pokémon Trainer Club account to begin using the features.

Here are the official descriptions for Pokémon Sun and Moon’s Global Link features.

Global Missions

Global missions are limited-time events that let Trainers around the world participate in a shared mission in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Visit Festival Plaza in your game to get started with global missions, then visit the PGL to track the mission’s progress.

Rating Battles

If you’re looking to test your skills in a particular battle format, Rating Battles are the place for you. Choose the format you want to compete in, and then battle online as much as you want. You can choose to have your battles ranked so you can see where you fit among all other Trainers, or just play for fun.

Rental Teams

An exciting new feature is coming to the Pokémon Global Link soon—you’ll be able to battle with teams borrowed from other players. The Rental Team feature lets you try out teams and strategies that would ordinarily take a long time to put together. Or maybe you want to help a friend battle against a variety of teams. Rental Teams make it easy to train and prepare like never before! But when it comes time for a real competition, you’ll have to put together your own team—Rental Teams won’t be allowed in formal tournaments. Look forward to Rental Teams coming to the Pokémon Global Link early next year.

Friendly Competitions

Set up your own small tournaments for your pals to play in with Friendly Competitions. Customize your competition’s format and regulations so you can battle any way you want. Be creative and challenge your friends in all kinds of ways! Friendly Competitions will launch in early 2017.

Pokémon Sun and Moon is now on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan and North America. It will arrive in Europe on November 23, 2016.
