Fire Emblem Echoes Reveals Two New Characters As Well As System Details

Recommended Videos

Nintendo shared more details on Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine with info on two new characters as well as system details. [Thanks, Hachima.]

The two new characters are Berkut and Effie*, but we also got details on Silque to go with it:

Berkut (CV: Tatsuhisa Suzuki): Emperor Rigel’s nephew. He’s an aristocrat that places great importance on social status. He guided the coup d’etat in Zofia by luring Desaix into betraying, and such.

Effie * (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) Alm’s childhood friend. She joins the liberation army wit the sole thought of wanting to be by Alm at all times. Her starting class is “Villager.”

Silque (CV: Yuka Inokuchi): She was saved by Alm after being imprisoned by bandits, and entrusts her with a royal treasure called “Mila’s Gear.” Her starting class is “Sister.”

*It’s worth noting that Effie’s name is listed as “エフィ” which is the same spelling as Fire Emblem Fates’ Effie. However, in the Japanese version of Fire Emblem Fates, Effie’s name is “エルフィ” which is read as “Elfi.” That said, we’ll probably get an alternate name for the West to avoid any confusion.

Here are some more system details:

  • About Difficulty: When starting the game you’ll get to choose between two difficulties of “Normal” and “Hard.” You’ll also get to choose battle rules between “Classic” that has perma-deaths after battles and “Casual” that allows any fallen characters to revive once back on the map.

  • Royal Treasure “Mila’s Gear”: This special item can be used during battle to rewind the movement of a unit. There are limited uses to it as well.

  • About Terrain Effects: Since there is no weapon affinity in the game, terrain effects are crucial. For example, attempting to hit a character in a forest will have your accuracy lowered by 40%.

  • About Magic: Magic ignores terrain effects but using it consumes HP.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia releases in Japan on April 20 and globally on May 19, 2017 for Nintendo 3DS. You can check out our previous report for more recent info on the game.
