Level-5 Is Considering Self-Publishing More Games In The West

Level-5, developer of titles such as Yo-Kai Watch and the Professor Layton series, has, in the past, had its titles published by Nintendo in the west. However, with the release of Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy for 3DS, iOS and Android devices, the developer will be self-publishing the title. Now, the developer has said that it wants to self-publish even more of its IPs in the west. [Thanks, DualShockers.]

Speaking with DualShockers, director of production at Level-5 abby, George Valko, described what the publishing experience has been like. Here were his comments:

“It’s been fun and also challenging. Everything you try adds a new initial frustration and challenge, but we’ve learned a lot and it’s made us a bigger and better company. So we’re really looking forward to our next titles, we know exactly what we’re going to do and how we’re going to do it. That said, we’re looking forward to publish more and more as we release more and more games.”

Additionally, when asked in particular if Level-5 had any plans to publish Inazuma Eleven in the west, Valko said, “That’s something we are definitely looking into, but we can’t really give a definitive answer at the moment.”

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy will release globally for iOS and Android devices on July 20th and for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on July 20th and in the west in early autumn.
