Rival Megagun is a game of competitive shmup action, as while both players will be dealing with enemies, shots, and hazards on their screen, the other player can slip into their game to cause even further mayhem.

In Rival Megagun, two players will both work through a vertical shmup stage, shooting down foes while weaving around enemy blasts. If players can down enemies quickly, they’ll steadily build up a combo chain that will let them launch missiles into the other player’s side of the screen, picking at their foe throughout the match and giving both players many hazards to watch out for.

If missile aren’t enough to take down the other player, players can build up power until they transform into their Mega Gunship form, a boss-like character that players can control in battle against their opponent, hosing them with shots in hopes of finally taking them out. Each of the game’s multiple characters features their own Mega Gunship, giving players many different boss characters to play as.

Rival Megagun will feature local two-player modes, an online mode, and a single player mode for those who don’t wish to play against someone else.

Rival Megagun is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, and is slated for release in Q4 of 2018.
