The latest Feh Channel livestream for Fire Emblem Heroes introduced a new game mode being added tomorrow night at 11pm PT, called Aether Raids.

This new mode allows players to build their own maps, called Aether Keeps, as well as attack the Aether Keeps of other players. You can build special structures that can turn the tide of battle both offensively and defensively, and set up four to six defenders on one map. Essentially it lets you build your own Grand Hero Battles.

Special structures include Tactics Rooms, which restrict movement of certain types of enemies; Healing Towers, which restores HP to allies in a certain area surrounding the structure at the start of a turn, and more. You can also level up the structures with Heavenly Stones.

For those people who’d rather get on with the action, you can easily set up your defense by tapping Auto Setup.

By doing well in Aether Raids and defending your Aether Keep, you can achieve higher Lift that will decide your tier rank. Aether Raids are scored by which tier you are in at the end of each season, as well as individual ranking.

Aether is refilled at update time every day (11pm PT) so that means you can only play so many times in one day. This means that it’s probably better for players to utilize one of the bonus units and bonus structures in order to boost their score.

The first Aether Raids season starts on November 8, 2018 at 11pm PT. Aether Raids: Special Structures will also be available starting on November 18, 2018.

Heroic Grails

The main reason why you want to play Aether Raids is to earn Heroic Grails, a new type of in-game currency that you can use to exchange more of the Heroes earned through Grand Hero Battles and Tempest Trials. You’ll be given 200 Heroic Grails at the start.

Each Hero can be summoned up to 20 times total, and will initially cost 100 Grails, but will jump by 50 for every summon. The Grail cost eventually caps out at 500 Grails for each summon.

What this means is that for people who have managed to collect every copy of a Grand Hero Battle or Tempest Trial so far, it is now possible to +10 every GHB and TT unit twice, although you’ll need to have the Grails spare to do so.

The video ended off with a very short teaser for Book III of the story, which will begin in December 2018.
