Nintendo Switch owners will be able to farm with friends very soon. The Stardew Valley multiplaer update has been dated. On December 12, 2018, patch 1.3 will go out and give people access to local and online co-op for up to four players, complete with Nintendo Switch Online voice chat. It will also add new single-player content for people who want to play solo.

In Stardew Valley multiplayer, between two and four people all go through the main story together. You share the farm and your total money, though the three visiting players live in cabins on the main player’s properties and each person has their own inventory, relationships with townsfolk, and both crafting recipe, skill, and quest progression. You can choose to marry another one of the players who is working with you on your farm, if you would like. It is also possible to scale profit margins on a multiplayer farm.

The Nintendo Switch version will have local and online multiplayer, with local multiplayer requiring each person to own their own system and copy of the game. For online multiplayer, you can communicate using the in-game chat box (which include 200 optional emojis to use) or use the Nintendo Switch Online application for voice chat.

Here are some of the official single-player Stardew Valley patch 1.3 additions, taken from the official website.

    • For 3 days in Winter you’ll be able to visit a traveling festival called the Night Market, which will visit Pelican Town. Here farmers can come and go as they please to purchase unique items, enjoy live entertainment and more!
    • There are now new character events to encounter, including some secret events triggered by certain conditions… Some of these even grant you permanent bonuses.
    • In Winter, farmers may encounter a strange event which activates a new ‘secret’ type of collection, leading to a new adventure and greater knowledge…
    • Your horse can now wear hats and Signs are now craftable items, available to you from the beginning of the game.

After detailing the Nintendo Switch Stardew Valley multiplayer update, Concerned Ape brought up other future updates. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One multiplayer patches are next on the docket. However, a new announcement was teased for after the launch of patch 1.3 for the Nintendo Switch.

Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and PC. The multiplayer update is immediately available for PCs.
