Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s World of Light campaign is a lengthy one. Depending on the difficulty level you choose and effort you put into it, you could find yourself taking at least 20 hours to perhaps complete it. What’s really nice about it is the sense of satisfaction that comes from investing that kind of time. It is a mode that not only rewards people with immediate gratification in the form of Fighters, Skill Points, other forms of currency, and Spirits, but also with various bonuses that might make it worth completely maxing things out and doing your best.

A big part of what makes World of Light so rewarding is it having multiple endings. Once you get heavily invested in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, you’ll find it takes you through three separate areas. The final one offers a balance between light and dark. If you want to get the light ending or dark ending, then you need to target Spirits of the opposite element. To get the True ending, you have to open the paths to both Dharkon and Galeem. Once both paths are open, backtracking causes them to come together to one major encounter you assault with a team of three characters. This final fight is so satisfying and forces you to rely on everything you have learned from the Spirit fights throughout World of Light and facing various bosses.
Now, beating Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s World of Light campaign on any ending gives you a new game plus option. Which can be great! If you haven’t 100% completed it, you can go back and keep unlocking in your old save. If you feel like you have done enough and want to earn another 20,000 Spirit Points and get duplicates of Spirits, then you can choose New Game Plus. Your Skill Tree progress carries over, you have all of your Fighters and Spirits, and all the Master Spirit activities you opened up are still there. You just have the ability to start it all over again and get even more items.
The other unlocks in place all involve rewarding the effort that goes into completing and mastering World of Light, which can help it feel worthwhile. For example, one of the major unlocks has to do with the music. The menu songs are all added to My Music, allowing you to change the songs you will hear when you are in the menu. You also unlock the "Galeem/Dharkon" theme. Lots of Spirits are earned by completing this mode as well. Crazy Hand comes from defeating that boss. (It is a Neutral Ace Spirit with three slots and no effects.) Likewise, Master Hand is acquired in the same way. (Again, it is a Neutral Ace Spirit with three slots and no effects.) Should you earn the True Ending, you get the Dharkon and Galeem Spirits. Both are Legend rank Neutral Spirits with no slots. Dharkon has the Bane of Light ability, which makes you more effective against light elementals, while Galeem’s Bane of Dark has the opposite effect.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s World of Light is just this substantial mode that works to be fulfilling. Getting that best ending, acquiring the unlocks that come from earning it, and then enjoying the other music options and Spirits from it can feel like so much. It an be quite a worthwhile experience.
