The Nintendo Switch passed the GameCube in the last quarterly financial results, and the company provided updated numbers for its third quarter, showing a new total of 32.27 million Switch units worldwide, as of December 31, 2018.

Here are the updated sales figures for the Nintendo Switch, 3DS, and Wii U:

Nintendo Switch

  • Hardware: 22.86 million units (+9.41 million from last quarter)
  • Software: 110.10 million units (+53.51)

Nintendo 3DS

  • Hardware: 74.84 million units (+1.31)
  • Software: 375.97 million units (+4.81)

Wii U

  • Hardware: 13.56 million units (-)
  • Software: 102.53 million units (+0.16)

Nintendo previously had a forecast of 20 million Nintendo Switch units sold in the fiscal year ending March 2019. In the first half of the fiscal year it sold a total of 5.07 million units, and now after the third quarter it added 9.41 million units, putting it up to a total of 14.48 million Nintendo Switch consoles sold worldwide.

That would’ve meant needing a little over 5.5 million in its fourth quarter, however, Nintendo has updated the forecast and brought it down to 17 million for the fiscal year ending in March 2019.

It’s also worth noting that the Switch saw a massive quarter in software sales with 53.51 million units total. That’s almost half of all Switch software sales in a single quarter, to give you an idea how good the holiday sales were for Switch.

With the Nintendo Switch hitting 32.27 million units it is just behind the Nintendo 64’s lifetime sales figure of 32.93 million, so we can expect that for its next financial results report.

The Nintendo Switch launched worldwide on March 3, 2017.
