Granzella has successfully Kickstarted R-Type Final 2 with over double their original requested amount of 45,000,000 yen, sitting at 98,863,825 yen. Over 8,000 people from Japan and overseas helped fund the project

The Kickstarter campaign, which only lasted one week compared to other ones that last a month, saw the conceptual game jet past its original goal in two days, and break several of the stretch goals. They include:

  • Cross-region, cross-platform leaderboard
  • Ghost function
  • Subtitles in European languages, Chinese (Trad. and Simp.), and Korean
  • Remakes of one of the stages from R-Type FinalR-Type Delta, and R-Type III respectively.

Granzella head Kazuma Kujo left a message on the Kickstarter’s success:

Thank you very much for your tremendous support for our Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for “R-TYPE FINAL 2”.

Your support and encouragement have provided us the opportunity to bring out the latest R-Type into the world.

Please let me express my sincere gratitude once again.

The development of R-Type Final 2 kicks into gear from now on.

We will move forward with the project so that those who supported us can enjoy not only the game itself but also the process of the production.

It will take some time until it is complete. In the meantime, we would like you to cooperate with us to make the latest and the most powerful R-Type.

We will keep you updated on the development progress on a regular basis on this webpage.

We look forward to your continued support.

The first update on the game is set for early July 2019.

R-Type Final 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. You can find the Kickstarter page here, and you can read more about Granzella’s comments on the game in our previous post here.
