28% Off Shadow of Tomb Raider Croft Edition for PC with Early Access

Say what you will about premium edition but they still appear to work. The latest Tomb Raider title, Shadow of the Tomb Raider goes live in less than two days later this Friday, September 14. As of writing, the PC digital Steam copy of Shadow of the Tomb Raider Croft Edition (list of $89.99) is sitting in the number one top selling slot on Steam Store – following it in the number two slot is the Deluxe Edition of the same game (list of $69.99). Both editions include early 48-hour access to Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and considering the Standard Edition is further down at #6, it’s safe to say that the premium editions are well worth it in the eyes of early adopters.

The good thing for early adopter though is that you can avoid paying list price on both the Croft Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In fact, considering Digital Deluxe doesn’t even include the Season Pass, the better value is most likely the Croft Edition. Various retailers are offering discounts from 20% off to 28% off, depending on the Edition.

Razer Game Store, the new kid on the digital game store block, is offering a large 28% off discount on Shadow of the Tomb Raider Croft Edition when you use coupon code RGSSDSEP10 at checkout. This knocks the price all the way down to only $64.79 – cheaper than the list price of Deluxe Edition. You’ll have to act fast because the discount ends this Friday at 6 PM Eastern. Conversely, the Digital Deluxe is “only” 20% off at GMG for $55.59. Given the price difference of about $10 – we’d say the inclusion of Season Pass and other items in the Croft Edition is probably worth it if you’re a Tomb Raider fan.

Croft Edition vs Deluxe Edition vs Standard

DLCs have come a long way since the days of horse armor, and for the price about $8 more than Standard Edition, you’ll receive early access, booster pack, original soundtrack, and additional outfit and weapon in the Deluxe Edition. For another $9, you’ll receive everything mentioned along with the Season Pass and 3 additional outfits and weapons. In summary:

Digital Deluxe Edition

  • 48-hours early access
  • Steam wallpaper
  • skills booster pack
  • OST
  • additional weapon/outfit

Croft Edition

  • 48-hours early access
  • everything listed above
  • Season Pass (7 challenge tombs, 7 weapons, 7 outfits, 7 skills)
  • 3 additional outfits and weapons

As far as we can tell, the only real bonus the Standard Edition receive as a pre-order (or early purchase) perk are the Steam wallpaper and the additional skills booster pack. While picking up premium pricey editions are always subjective, we think in this instance the best choice is either the Croft Edition for $17 more than the Standard Edition, or simply get the Standard Edition as is with the 20% off pre-order discount.
