ACE COMBAT 7 SKIES UNKNOWN - TOP GUN Maverick Teaser

Ace Combat 7 Top Gun: Maverick Teaser Trailer Shows the Hornet

Pete “Maverick” Mitchell’s F/A-18E Super Hornet from Top Gun: Maverick will appear in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. After announcing the collaboration DLC in late April 2022, Bandai Namco and Project Aces published a new teaser trailer showing the aircraft with a unique livery on YouTube. The teaser trailer shows the specially designed Super Hornet being placed in Ace Combat 7‘s story cutscenes, such as taking off from a carrier and leading a squadron.

The above trailer only showed Maverick’s new Hornet. But when Project Aces teased more aircraft coming in the same DLC set on Twitter, it also included an F-14A Tomcat containing the names of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell and Nick “Goose” Bradshaw from the original 1986 Top Gun movie. The same Twitter account also shared a new smartphone wallpaper pairing Maverick’s Hornet with an F/A-18F Super Hornet belonging to “Trigger,” the protagonist of Ace Combat 7.

This DLC set will newly add the F/A-18E Super Hornet and F-14A Tomcat to Ace Combat 7. The game’s original roster only included the F/A-18F and F-14D Super Tomcat variants. In November 2021, Project Aces released the Cutting-edge Aircraft Series DLC set that added the improved F/A-18F Super Hornet Block III.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It has surpassed three million units sold as of August 2021. The Top Gun: Maverick aircraft set DLC will appear on May 26, 2022—the day before the movie releases in theaters on May 27, 2022.
