Animal Crossing New Horizons Encyclopedia Will Have DVD

Kodansha will release an encyclopedia teaching children about the real-life animals that appear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is a part of the Kodansha’s Moving Encyclopedia ‘MOVE’ series of books. It combines pictures in the book with videos in a DVD to introduce and explain its topics. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!]

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons encyclopedia will introduce all 235 species of insects, sea creatures, fish, and fossils that appear in the game. Like other MOVE encyclopedias, the New Horizons book will come with a DVD, as well as a poster of the animal life on the island. Blathers and the Villager will pop up throughout the book to give more details as well. Not only does the encyclopedia explain the non-fiction aspect of these species, it will also give information on where and when you can find them in-game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Japan’s best-selling video game, even surpassing the NES version of Super Mario Bros. Aside from the game itself, there is plenty of physical merchandise for fans to collect and own. There are toys of the villagers, for example, as well as comics that are set in the New Horizons continuity.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons encyclopedia from Kodansha will come out on July 29, 2022. It will only be available in Japanese. The book will cost 2,530 JPY, which is approximately $19.80.
