Animal Crossing May Day Celebration

How to Engage in the Animal Crossing May Day Celebration

With another month comes another event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and this one comes in the form of May Day celebrations. This limited time event will run from May 1-7, 2020, so there is plenty of time for players to participate. But you might be wondering, what exactly do the May Day celebrations entail in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Don’t you worry, because I will be detailing the basics of what you need to know for this maze.

When you load up the game, Isabelle will already give you an idea of how to proceed. You will need to go to the Resident Services building to talk to Tom Nook. Nook will explain the reason behind May Day once you talk to him, but more importantly he will tell you that he’s left a May Day ticket for you at the airport ticket counter.

From there, you will want to head to the airport to talk to Orville to redeem your May Day ticket. Using your May Day Ticket is similar to how you can use Nook Mile tickets. So you only need to speak to Orville and select Use May Day Ticket from the menu to go on your special excursion. (Use your ticket wisely, as you get one.)

The May Day tour is a fairly different from your average flight. Upon landing, all of your items will be removed from your inventory and you will need to navigate through a maze to find a special prize. That prize? Well, you’ll need to find Rover to receive it. Once you’ve located Rover, he will give you a special item: Rover’s Briefcase. Please keep in mind that you cannot order this item from the Nook Shopping catalog and it cannot be customized. This item will also be sent to you by Dodo Airlines so be sure to check your mailbox once you return.

Regarding navigating the maze, don’t worry about the lack of items. You’ll find a shovel right at the start and other tools littered around the maze. You can pick them up and use them in conjunction with materials found on the island to progress through the maze. Know that you’ll have to dig up and cut your way through at parts.

In addition to the special May Day item, players can also reap some of the various rewards the May Day Tour has to offer. Bell Vouchers are located throughout the island, and those in need of iron nuggets can also find some here. So make sure to make the most of your trip because you’ll only be able to go once!

Aside from the May Day event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, some new updates have come with the latest patch. Tarantulas and scorpions will be swapping places, so those in the Northern Hemisphere will finally get to see scorpions. Additionally, those in the Southern Hemisphere will finally be able to get their hands on those eight legged money makers.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is immediately available on Nintendo Switch.
