The first new Pokemon in Pokemon Unite for 2023 was revealed, and it is Comfey. This is a character that resembles a flower garland or Hawaiian lei, and it first appeared in Pokemon Sun and Moon. It will join the cast on February 2, 2023.
The announcement didn’t note what role the Pokemon will play in-game. In mainline installments, Comfey doesn’t feature any evolutions. It is a fairy type known for its supportive skills. For example, some of its notable abilities include Draining Kiss, Floral Healing, Flower Shield, and Petal Blizzard. As such, it could end up being a supporter in Pokemon Unite, like Blissey.
As a reminder, the last Pokemon to join Pokemon Unite was Dragapult. It showed up right before last year ended, debuting on December 29, 2022. Ushifu appeared at the beginning of that month as well.
However, in a recent 2022 data analysis update, The Pokemon Company International and Timi Studio revealed older Pokemon, rather than new ones in Pokemon Unite, still proved most popular among players. Pikachu was the most used unit in 2022, followed by Greninja and Charizard.
Pokemon Unite is available for the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, and Comfey will join its roster on February 2, 2023.
