D3 Publisher recently announced a new spinoff EDF voxel game called Earth Defense Force: World Brothers. Get a first look at some gameplay from the game’s debut trailer.

For the first time ever, an Earth Defense Force game will take place in a voxel world. It is normally a peaceful box-shaped world, but something happened to cause it to break into pieces and scatter about. These pieces of blocky land become areas that you must clear by defeating blocky invaders.
Members of Earth Defense Force are fighting alone across various parts of the world. You can rescue these members to have them fight by your side as a ‘Brother’. Many characters from the series appear as legacy characters. There are over 100 characters to recruit, each with their own abilities to use on the battlefield. You can have up to four characters in a party at a time.
The Earth Defense Force members aren’t the only familiar faces, as it also features all the invaders from past titles. This includes the Ravagers, Primers, Aggressors, and many others.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers will release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan in 2020. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Earth Defense Force 6, which was also recently announced and set to release in 2021.
