ESO Morrowind Upgrade Gets Pre-Load, Early Access

The Elder Scrolls Online fan’s ears should perk up today as the Morrowind expansion pre-load has started in earnest for PC gamers. If you’ve pre-ordered the upgrade (or Collector’s Edition upgrade) through either Steam Store, Zenimax, or one of many authorized digital retailers online – you should be able to pre-load the expansion portion of The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind. The even better news is that pre-order fans will receive a two weeks head start with early access starting as soon as next week Monday, May 22nd (the expansion releases next month June 6).

If you haven’t made a decision on Morrowind yet, there are a number of deals available, no matter where you’ve purchased your PC/Mac copy of The Elder Scrolls Online.  As long as you purchase a copy of Morrowind Upgrade or Morrowind Collector’s Edition Upgrade, you will be eligible for early access come May 22. Below we’ve listed some of best ESO Morrowind deals from authorized retailers. All deals listed below are sending out keys for pre-load as of writing and will get you early access on Monday.

Notes: the deals on the upgrade copies above will work on both the Steam accounts or the Zenimax Launcher accounts (even though they are not Steam keys).

For those wondering, third party retailers are also offering a “complete” edition called The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind (along with its Collector’s Edition) – which contains everything Elder Scrolls Online plus the upcoming Morrowind expansion. Unfortunately, if you pre-order these editions you will not receive early access. As far as we know, early access is only available for PC/Mac gamers that have purchased the Morrowind upgrade (whether on Steam Store, Zenimax Store or third-party authorized retailers).

To recap, you get early access on May 22 if you buy these:

  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Upgrade
  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Upgrade Collector’s Edition

But not if you purchase these:

  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind
  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Collector’s Edition

Which is rather ironic considering the last edition listed is the most expensive version of the game and includes everything The Elder Scrolls Online and has a list price of $79.99.
