While Evangelion Battlefields got off to a rough start in Japan, due to a last minute delay in March 2020, the mobile game launched in April 2020. Now its second season is kicking off, which means new Eva controllers and new figures that bring additional Pilot and Support characters to the game. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
As far as controllers go, there are two new “units” available for 4,980円 (~$46) each. One is Unit-02, which is typically piloted by Asuka in the series. The other is Unit-08, Mari Makinami Illustrious’ Eva from Rebuild of Evangelion. Like the original Eva Unit-00 and 01 models, these controllers let you play the game and place Pilot and Supporter figures to help you in your fights.
The eight new Evangelion Battlefields figures consist of two Pilots and six Supporters. The Pilots are Asuka Shikinami Langley and Kotone Suzunami. Kotone is an original test pilot character added specifically for this game. As for the Support figures, there is a casual version of Misato Katsuragi, you can get Kotone or Mari in their school uniforms, and Gendo Ikari, Ritsuko Akagi, Hitomi Amagi are there. Like Kotone, Hitomi is an original character from this game. One blind box containing a single figure costs 750円 (~$7).
