Fairy Tail Delayed Until July 2020 Worldwide

There’s an update on the status of the Fairy Tail Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC game Gust has been working on, and it will require people excited about the RPG to be a little more patient. Like the Japanese version of the game, the North American and European versions have also been delayed. Koei Tecmo Europe’s Twitter account has given it a July 30, 2020 release date for the continent. US Twitter account says it will appear in that region on July 31, 2020.

This delay falls in line with the previously announced Japanese Fairy Tail delay. On May 20, 2020, it was confirmed it’d show up in that country on July 30, 2020, instead of June 25, 2020. However, even with this one-month delay, it will still receive a near simultaneous worldwide release.

While the Japanese delay announcement didn’t initially offer an explanation, the almost identical messages on the Twitter accounts confirmed that the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which forced many people to alter working conditions, is the reason for the latest delay. Here’s the full statement from the US Twitter account:

Due to the ever-changing world disrupted by COVID-19, Koei Tecmo and Gust Studios are pushing back the release of Fairy Tail until July 31, 2020. The development team is working extremely hard through an unprecedented time to deliver the ultimate magical JRPG experience to fans across the world and we appreciate everybody’s patience as we put the final touches on this thrilling adventure.

The Fairy Tail Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC game will arrive in Japan and Europe on July 30, 2020. It will show up one day later in North America on July 31, 2020. As a reminder, the physical copy’s inlay will have members of the cast in their swimsuits and people who get Europe’s Collector’s Edition will also get a copy of Sorcerer Magazine.
