Final Fantasy XIV Payment Methods Change

Final Fantasy XIV Payment Methods Change in Late February

Square Enix announced changes to the payment methods for purchases made in the Final Fantasy XIV Mog Station, Final Fantasy XIV Online Store, and the Square Enix Account Management sites. Furthermore, some of the current payment methods will no longer be available. This change will go in effect in late February 2023. While Square Enix said that it should not have a big impact on most purchases, the company recommended customers to re-enter their payment method following the change, in order to avoid any possible problems.

Square Enix informed customers through The Lodestone about the changes soon to be made to the payment processor. The new available and unavailable payment methods, starting late February 2023 include the following:

Unavailable Payment Methods:

  • Carte Bleue
  • JCB
  • SEPA (Sofort)

Available Payment Methods:

  • Amazon Pay
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • Mastercard
  • PayPal
  • Paysafecard
  • Visa

Square Enix said that they hope to reintroduce some of the discontinued payment methods in the future, but recommended changing to alternate payment methods in the meantime.

While the changes to the payment processor won’t impact customers currently enrolled in a recurring subscription plan, making any future changes to a recurring subscription, or any updates to the payment method will require customers to go through the new payment processor. This will require re-entering the payment method. The current payment processor will be available for a period after the change, but Square Enix recommended updating active subscriptions after the change, in order to avoid any possible problems.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. Patch 6.31 is now live, and you can check out the patch notes here.
