Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV has surpassed over 22 million registered users worldwide. This includes users from all five regions that the game is currently available in. Additionally, this also includes users registered for the Final Fantasy XIV free trial. [Thanks, Dengeki!]
The Final Fantasy XIV free trial includes access to the game until the end of the Heavensward expansion. However, it limits access to some basic features such as use of the market board or joining a Free Company. That being said, Square Enix previously mentioned strong subscription numbers for Final Fantasy XIV in a financial report.
While the numbers of current expansion copies sold was not as high as the previous expansion, the MMORPG managed to stay in the positive regarding profits. This is the first time the numbers for total registered users for Final Fantasy XIV players has been shared since the financial report.
Recently, Square Enix shared more information regarding the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.5 content. This included a look at the upcoming NieR Automata YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid, which will serve as a conclusion to the raid series. Additionally, more information regarding the upcoming main story quest was revealed. This included a look at a new trailer.
