Fullmetal alchemist last transmutation

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Last Transmutation Live-Action Trailer Shown

The first film in the Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Chapter duology, Scar the Avenger,  opened in Japan on May 20, 2022, but there’s still one more movie to go. That film, Fullmetal Alchemist:  Final Chapter – The Last Transmutation is due in a matter of weeks. Ahead of its June 24, 2022 premiere, Warner Brothers showed off a full-size trailer for the film, which will round out the Fullmetal Alchemist live-action trilogy. [Thanks, ANN!]

Check out the preview below. Note that the trailer contents may be considered spoilers for both the Fullmetal Alchemist: Scar the Avenger film and the Fullmetal Alchemist series in general.

The Fullmetal Alchemist: The Last Transmutation trailer continues events from after Scar the Avenger, kicking off with a conversation between Hohenheim and Father. Shots also show Olivier Armstrong, her brother Alex, her subordinates Miles and Buccaneer, as well as major characters like Scar, Roy Mustang, Riza Hawkeye, Winry, and of course the Elric brothers. Xing characters like Ling Yao and Fu face off against King Bradley.

Teases of what seems to be the final confrontation of the storyline are also visible, indicating that Fullmetal Alchemist: The Last Transmutation probably won’t be making any major diversions from the plot as told in the original manga. The first anime adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist in 2003 famously diverged from the manga’s story (it was still ongoing at the time) and concluded on its own terms through the 2005 film Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conquerer of Shamballa. The manga received a second anime adaptation, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, in 2009, which ran through 2010 and followed the “canon” storyline directly to its conclusion.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Chapter – The Last Transmutation premieres in Japan on June 24, 2022. Its predecessor, Scar the Avenger, is in theaters now. An international release date has not yet been confirmed.
