Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Trailer Reveals July 2023 Release

The next season of Jujutsu Kaisen is coming midway through next year. A new trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 launched at the ongoing Jump Festa 2023 event on December 17, 2022. The preview revealed that the season will begin broadcasting in July 2023, the typical summer anime seasonal block. Japanese broadcast networks MBS and TBS will air the series in Japan for two “cours” (programming blocks that cover roughly three months of episodes each). People can expect a run of between 22-26 episodes, depending on cour length.

The subtitle beneath the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 logo confirms officially, that the season will adapt the “Kaigyoku,” “Gyokusetsu”, and “Shibuya Incident” story arcs. As seen in the pages of Gege Akutami’s original Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Kaigyoku and Gyokusetsu are jointly referred to as the “Gojo’s Past” arc or the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc. They dig into the events of Gojo’s life as a second year student at Jujutsu High, when he cooperated with Suguru Geto to escort the Star Plasma Vessel. Earlier releases of poster art from the season effectively confirmed this by showing off Gojo’s appearance circa-2006.

Meanwhile, the Shibuya Incident story arc is the direct continuation of events from the first season, taking place in the series’ present. The main cast is forced to battle against an alliance of cursed spirits and curse users, aiming to defend Gojo from being sealed.

Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen premieres in July 2023 in Japan. International release plans have not yet been announced.
