With Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit upon us, Nintendo’s released new information and trailers discussing the game and previews appeared. While this is a hybrid, augmented reality game where you build an actual track in your home and have an actual kart reflecting the races you play on your Nintendo Switch in real life, it turns out staples like Mirror Mode will return. Also, GameXplain noted that speeds up to 200cc are possible.

In Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, people have their Mario or Luigi kart and are racing against Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings on tracks people design in different modes. The basic Grand Prix mode, which involves three races, can be played traditionally or in Mirror Mode. As in past games, this means that you’re racing on a reflection of the track. The other modes include Custom Races, which goes a step beyond laying out the road with the gates and signboards, and Time Trials, which allows people to compete for high scores on a track.

As for the different engine classes, there are four. (Just like in traditional Mario Kart games.) These are 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, and 200cc, with the speeds being reflected both in-game and in real life.

Here’s the latest official overview trailer.

And here’s one where people from Velan Studios talk about the game and its technology.

Finally, here’s GameXplain’s footage. The part showing how engine classes look comes up at the 6:26 mark.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will come to the Nintendo Switch on October 16, 2020. If you want to have more than one person racing locally, each person will need their own copy of the game.
