Monster Hunter Rise originally released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in March 2021. By October of the same year, Capcom reported that the title reached 7.5 million units sold worldwide. By the end of 2021, the game sold over 2.3 million units in Japan alone, becoming one of the best-selling Switch titles of the year.

In comparison, the series’ previous title, Monster Hunter World, has sold over 20 million copies worldwide since its release in 2018. As of September 30, 2021, the Monster Hunter series as a whole has sold a total of 78 million units.

Capcom released the PC version of Monster Hunter Rise on January 13, 2022. The PC version is almost the exact same as the Switch version in terms of content. Key improvements include 4K resolution, 60 FPS, and the ability to change graphics quality. The PC version also features various new filters based on old Japanese cinema.

Monster Hunter Rise is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The game’s first major expansion, Sunbreak, will release sometime in Summer 2022. Capcom will also release three new Sunbreak amiibo.
