Netflix is continuing its run of live-action adaptations of anime series and properties, as news about the Legendary Entertainment Gundam movie surfaced. While details are slim at the moment, Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the film. He will also act as a producer on it.

It’s been years since substantial information about this project showed up. Both Sunrise and Legendary first announced it back at Anime Expo 2018. At the time, the only name associated with the project was Cale Boyter, who would “oversee” the film.
However, we still don’t know which Gundam series will act as the inspiration for the film or if it will have an entirely original storyline. Both the original 2018 announcement didn’t reference any of the past anime series or films.
As for live-action Gundam Director Vogt-Roberts, his most recent film was Kong: Skull Island. However, he also ended up tapped to direct the upcoming Metal Gear movie starring Oscar Isaac. As far as video game projects go, he also worked on a Destiny 2 trailer.
The live-action Gundam movie is in development and will eventually air on Netflix.
