Over 60 The Last of Us Part II Accessibility Options Are Available

The different The Last of Us Part II accessibility options have been revealed, and Naughty Dog seems to have put a lot of thought into making the game playable for as many people as possible. The official site going over the features notes 60 different options that can alter the experience to make it more accommodating. However, there are also three accessibility presets for people who want to jump right into the game. People will also have full control customization, letting you determine the custom scheme.

The three The Last of Us Part II presets take into account different hearing, mobility, and vision impairments. Each one turns on different options to help make it easier to guide Ellie on her adventure and keep her alive, while also taking into consideration things that might otherwise make it difficult to get through the game.

The Hearing Accessibility Preset, for example, has story and combat subtitles on, with people’s names shown and directions indicating where the sound is coming from and who is speaking. There are awareness indicators and pick-up notifiations, more frequent dodge prompts, and controller vibration cues for combat segments and connected to Ellie’s guitar.

For the Motor The Last of Us Part II Accessibility Preset, people have adjustments that make it easier to explore and fight. There will be an auto pick-up option for items, Ellie will automatically lock onto targets, weapons will swap automatically as needed, and you can hold buttons to complete melee combos or repeated button presses. There will also be an option to skip puzzles, which could normally require fine motor skills, there will be movement assistance for moving through the world, she has infinite breath and ledge guard.

The Vision Accessibility Preset includes options to make it easier to see everything on-screen. There will be a high contrast display, to make enemies more noticeable, and it has the same auto-target, ledge guard, navigation and travel assistance, and skip puzzle options enabled as the Motor Accessibility Preset. It also has a large HUD, an enhanced Listen Mode, makes Ellie invisible while prone, turns on combat and traversal combat cues, and has a text-to-speech option so you can hear menu options and such.

As for the custom The Last of Us Part II controls, there are presets and custom options. You can go with a default, left hand only, or right hand only scheme. You also have up to three custom schemes, which can be renamed, all of which let you remap the controls. You can even change the controller’s orientation for this part and determine the functionality of analog sticks.

Here’s how some of these The Last of Us Part II accessibility options look in-game.

The Last of Us Part II will launch on June 19, 2020. A custom console will be available. An extended commercial focusing on Ellie also kicked off June 2020.
