Pac-Man Championship Edition Demake Heading West With Namco Museum Archives

Feel like it has been a while since Bandai Namco has made it possible to play classic games again on one of your newer systems? Well, that will be remedied next week. The company announced that it will drop Namco Museum Archives Vol 1 and 2 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 18, 2020. The interesting part is, it gives people a home version of Gaplus and the Pac-Man Championship Edition demake.

See, the Pac-Man Championship Edition 8-bit demake is a bonus in Japan for people who buy every Namcot Collection Nintendo Switch game. Here, it is a part of the Namco Museum Archives Vol 1 set of games.

You’ll get the 8-bit Pac-Man Championship Edition with the following 10 games.

  • Dig-Dug
  • Dragon Buster
  • Dragon Spirit: The New Legend
  • Galaxian
  • Mappy
  • Pac-Man
  • Sky Kid
  • Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti
  • The Tower of Druaga
  • Xevious

Gaplus’ 8-bit, home version adaptation of the game that previously only showed up in arcades and on the Commodore 64, is the “bonus” in Namco Museum Archives Vol 2. That collection, as you might expect, adds another 10 additional titles from Bandai Namco’s back catalog.

Here are the other games in the second half of the collection.

  • Battle City
  • Dig Dug II
  • Dragon Buster II
  • Galaga
  • Legacy of the Wizard
  • Mappy-Land
  • Mendel Palace
  • Pac-Land
  • Rolling Thunder
  • Super Xevious

As a note, every game in these collections will have a rewind option and let people create save states.

Here’s a peek at how some of these games will look on current consoles.

Namco Museum Archives Vol 1 and 2 will bring these retro games to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 18, 2020.
