Persona 4 Golden Steam Port Announced, Released Immediately

Persona 4 Golden, the enhanced PlayStation Vita version of Atlus’ role-playing game, has been ported to PC. The game was announced in the PC Gaming Show presentation and immediately released on Steam on June 13, 2020.

This surprise release of Persona 4 Golden marks the first time any core Persona game has been playable on a non-PlayStation platform. It’s also the franchise’s first appearance of any sort on PC. The standard edition is available for $19.99 / €19.99, while a “deluxe edition” including a digital soundtrack and art book is $24.99 / €24.99.

Atlus describes this Persona 4 Golden Steam port as “an HD experience,” with an unlocked frame rate and multiple resolution options. It includes full keyboard and mouse controls, though gamepad play is still supported. Players can choose from Japanese and English audio options, and text is available in Japanese, English, Korean and Traditional Chinese. The Steam-exclusive release also includes achievements and trading cards.

Originally released on PlayStation 2 in 2008, Persona 4 follows a group of high school students as they encounter social situations during the day and face combat at night. Persona 4 Golden, this enhanced edition originally released exclusively for Vita in 2012, adds new features and story elements.

The 2020 edition of PC Gaming Show, originally scheduled for June 6, was delayed one week to June 13 “to make space for those speaking out and demonstrating about how to end the systemic oppression and police brutality experienced by black people.”
